Overview
Momentum in retail is not a fresh coat of paint.
It is about making space work harder.
That was the driver behind the new Spud Bros Express concept delivered at EG On The Move — completed in a fully live forecourt environment, with the site trading throughout.
The existing food to go offer needed a rethink. Rather than refreshing the same concession, the decision was made to remove it entirely and introduce a new Spud Bros Express branded concept, designed for speed, theatre and smoother operational flow within a busy service station.
All works were carefully planned and phased to ensure minimal disruption to trading across the forecourt and store, allowing customers and staff to operate as normal throughout the transformation.
The challenge
Food-to-go continues to earn more space in convenience retail, but only when it performs.
The challenge at this site was to create a food to go offer that could:
• Operate efficiently during peak trading periods
• Deliver a clear customer journey with minimal friction
• Support speed of service without compromising quality
• Justify its footprint through basket growth and margin
And do all of this within a live forecourt environment, where downtime, disruption or reduced capacity were not an option.
This was not about adding something new for the sake of it. It was about creating a concept that worked harder for both customers and operators.
The Jordon Group approach
The Jordon Group delivered the transformation end to end, removing the previous concession and installing the new Spud Bros Express concept while the forecourt and store remained fully operational.
Careful planning, sequencing and on site coordination ensured minimal disruption to trading, not just within the food to go area but across the wider service station.
The layout was designed to support fast service, strong visual theatre and better flow behind the counter. Equipment selection, positioning and access were considered in detail to ensure the space could perform reliably during busy periods, while remaining practical for day to day operation in a live environment.
This approach ensured the new food to go offer was not just visually impactful, but commercially and operationally sound from day one.
Launch day told its own story.
A busy store, cameras up and a team ready to serve, with customers drawn in by the new concept. When food to go works, it earns its footprint. It builds basket, supports margin and keeps the operation moving.
The completed Spud Bros Express space delivers:
• A clear, high impact food to go offer
• Faster service and improved operational flow
• Strong customer engagement from launch
• A concept designed to perform, not just look good
Partnership and progress
This project reflects the strength of collaboration between EG On The Move, the Spud Bros team and The Jordon Group. It demonstrates how the right food to go concept, delivered with operational understanding, can transform retail space and drive momentum.
We are proud to have delivered this transformation and wish every success to the teams involved as the concept continues to grow.
