Case study:

Forecourt fit-out for EG On The Move and Co-op at Norton Heath

A high performing roadside destination combining food-to-go, convenience retail and forecourt infrastructure

Overview

The Jordon Group, part of Bellrock Group, delivered a forecourt fit-out at Norton Heath.
The project was for EG On The Move and Co-op.

The site brings together fuel, food-to-go and convenience retail.
As a result, it creates a high performing roadside destination.

This project forms part of a growing programme between EG On The Move and Co-op.
There are now 11 sites across the UK, so the format is well established.

The site was designed for a live trading environment.
Therefore, the focus was on performance from day one and over time.

The challenge

Forecourt environments have changed, and customer expectations have moved on.

Today, sites need to do more than provide fuel and a shop.
Instead, they must support multiple customer missions in one visit.

At Norton Heath, the challenge was to deliver a forecourt fit-out that supports this shift.
The space needed to balance food-to-go and convenience retail, while also managing customer flow within a fixed footprint.

At the same time, refrigeration and HVAC systems had to perform consistently.
Because of this, they needed to operate under constant demand.

As a result, every element had to work together from day one.
There was no margin for error once the site opened.

Our scope

Jordon delivered a full forecourt fit-out at Norton Heath, and we managed every stage of the project in house.

This included the design and layout of the convenience space, as well as integration of the food-to-go offer.

We installed refrigeration systems across chilled and fresh categories, while also delivering HVAC and environmental controls.

In addition, the project included full interior fit-out and joinery, which ensured a consistent finish across the site.

Because everything was delivered in house, we maintained control throughout.
As a result, coordination, quality and programme delivery were improved.

The solution

The solution focuses on performance, and it is built around how customers move through the space.

Food-to-go is positioned to drive engagement and increase basket spend.
At the same time, clear zoning supports fast decision making, while strong visibility helps customers navigate the store with ease.

Refrigeration performs consistently across all categories, and it supports both product quality and energy efficiency.

The layout balances openness with product density, so the store feels easy to shop while still maximising retail space.

Every decision supports live operation.
Because of this, the site performs under pressure from day one.

Results

The completed forecourt fit-out at Norton Heath delivers a modern retail environment, which reflects how customers use these spaces today.

The site improves flow across the store, and it also supports longer dwell time and increased basket spend.

Refrigeration and HVAC systems perform reliably, so the environment remains consistent during daily operation.

However, performance does not stop at handover.
Energy use and asset efficiency continue to matter over time.

Through Bellrock’s wider capabilities, Jordon supports ongoing performance.
As a result, the environment continues to operate effectively across its lifecycle.
