The Jordon Group completed the retail fit out in Carlisle for Bonmarché’s new store at The Lanes Shopping Centre. Starting with an empty shell unit, our team delivered the internal fit-out required to create a finished retail environment ready for the client’s store opening.
The project formed part of a wider programme of store openings completed for the PurePay Retail Group, which operates Bonmarché and Peacocks. Jordon coordinated the fit-out works from initial preparation through to final snagging and handover.
The Challenge
The project was delivered within a busy city-centre shopping centre that remained fully operational throughout the works. Therefore, deliveries, waste removal and disruptive activities had to be carefully coordinated in line with centre requirements.
As the unit was an empty shell, the programme included the installation of the flooring, lighting, electrical services, joinery, retail fixtures, signage and finishes needed to create the completed store. All works also had to be delivered within the agreed programme ahead of the planned opening date.

As the shopfitting contractor, Jordon managed and delivered the complete fit-out package, including:
- Project management and coordination of all site trades
- Preparation and finishing of the shell unit
- Electrical installation and a combination of linear and track lighting
- LVT flooring throughout the sales area
- Bespoke till counter and associated joinery
- Slatted timber feature wall and branded counter backdrop
- Installation of perimeter wall systems and retail fixtures
- Feature column finishes and integrated graphic panels
- Shopfront and internal signage installation
- Final finishes, snagging and handover
Our Approach
The Jordon Group managed the project from initial site preparation through to completion, coordinating the programme, specialist trades, materials and installations within a live shopping-centre environment.
The works were carefully sequenced, from the electrical installation and flooring through to the joinery, lighting, fixtures, signage and final finishes. This coordinated approach allowed each stage to progress efficiently while maintaining the quality and consistency required for Bonmarché’s wider store programme.
Bespoke joinery forms an important part of the finished scheme. The till area combines a purpose-built counter with a slatted timber feature wall, integrated Bonmarché branding and a location-specific “hello CARLISLE” detail.
Across the sales floor, the lighting, flooring, perimeter systems, feature columns and fixtures have been brought together as one coordinated fit-out. Jordon completed the final snagging before handing the store over in line with the programme.
The Outcome
The project was completed in line with the agreed programme and handed over ready for Bonmarché’s planned store opening.
The finished store provides a clean and modern retail environment, with coordinated fixtures, lighting, flooring, signage and joinery throughout. Flexible display systems also allow Bonmarché to update its product presentation as ranges change.
