Fresh and Proper – Fordham

The Jordon Group have recently taken on a brilliant shop unit full conversion partnering with owner Josh James. We are so happy to be a part of the process from the shell it once was to a thriving store!

The Jordon Group seamlessly put together the big and minor details including Shelving, Joinery, Ceiling, Shopfront, Lighting, and in true Jordon style, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. We wish to use the best quality and most efficient equipment on the market, so for this project we used the Arneg Osaka Air Patented Low Energy cases with Digital Low Energy Condensing Units. We also used Daikin Underslung VRV Air Conditioning.

The Fresh and Proper store not only provided a place for local shoppers to buy their essential items, but offer a small in-store bakery, office and warehouse for stock. Fresh and Proper are all co-branded with Morrisons! We are sure this will be very popular with the local residents.

We are delighted to help bring such a brilliant little asset to the village of Fordham. Thank you to Josh James for trusting us as your fit out specialists on this store, we are sure it will be a thriving success!

Guy Warner teams up with Morrisons

Here at The Jordon Group, we are delighted to have delivered Guy Warner’s latest Upton-Upon-Severn site in Worcestershire, which saw Morrisons partner with the award-winning retailer to create a new dual-branded concept store. ‘Together With Morrisons’ is a partnership for larger convenience stores over 3,000sq ft, which sees them champion local products, as well as carrying Morrisons’ own brand.

“Upton-Upon-Severn is an entirely new brand proposition,” explains Guy. “The work that’s gone in on the brand, the customer journey, the components of the look and the feel of the store are all brand new and have taken a lot of time to come together.”

Fresh produce is a major focus, as are beers, wines and spirits. He claims that fresh foods is a core part of the offer and that local food is at the pinnacle of that. He is working with 71 local producers and the shop boasts over 700 local lines.

Another focal point is the store’s food to go offer. “Within this store we’ve got a serve over food to go proposition and a drinks bar,” says Guy. “We’ve pedalled our own ship on carbonated slush and coffee and brought those all under our own [Warner’s] brand because we felt if we’re going to actually embrace the brand then why wouldn’t you want to bring under that brand the USPs of what you do, rather than immediately inserting other brands.”

Guy has embraced new technology at the new store. “There are a few technological things we’ve done to try to make the operation more efficient, both for us and the consumer,” he says. “We’ve put ESELs [electronic shelf edge labels] into the store, which is a new thing for us and represents a substantial investment,” he says. “We also have a lot of media screens in the store.”
The store has an extensive solar panel installation on the roof. “It was always a good return on investment case, but since we made the decision to do it, energy prices have doubled, so it’s become doubly compelling!” says Guy.

He claims that the town was “crying out for a store” and he wanted his store to become a destination outlet. “There genuinely was a challenge to do a shop there,” he says. “It’s very early days, but seeing the customer reaction in the first week, I think that what we’ve put forward is going to do all the things we want it to because there have been a lot of trolleys going around the store”.

We would like to wish Guy and the team the very best of luck with the new concept store and thank them for choosing us as their shopfitting specialists.

Nisa, Highlands of Royston

Well-known and successful forecourt retailer the Highland Group has signed a deal to be supplied by Nisa Retail.

The group, run by father and son team Steve and Tom Highland, agreed terms and commenced trading with Nisa in April, at the height of the Covid-19 crisis.

The group, which currently operates four forecourts, has initially moved its business in Royston, Herts, across to Nisa and the store has been converted to Nisa’s Evolution format and fascia.

Highlands of Royston, Greenfields Service Station operates on the A505 dual carriageway. The site has recently been extended and renovated by the Jordon Group, to 2,000 sq.ft. In addition to the new store which offers a far superior range of food to go and essentials, a new in store bakery has been fitted. This, along with the new Nisa partnership allows them to support all the local villages as well as the commuters using the A505.

Tom Highland believes the addition of the new extended range available through Nisa, including access to more than 2,000 Co-op own brand products, will take the store to the next level.

Tom said: “Having such a vast range of own-brand products with a strong name that people know and trust, has helped us grow the shop sales not only in areas where we were already strong, but also in new areas such as fresh produce where we have struggled in the past.”

Since expanding the shop and enhancing the range in the Royston store, sales have increased by 100% with plans for further growth as shoppers become increasingly aware of the improved offer available instore.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Highland Group for choosing us as their fit-out contractors and wish them the very best with the new venture!

He said: “We are situated in the middle of a large residential area and have a college directly across the road and so we plan to become an important part of the community, employing local people, serving the local area, working with them and supporting them with local causes.

“I have lots of ideas about how we will get involved and I’m looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming our shoppers.”

The most up to the minute energy efficient equipment was sourced for the store, supplied by leading Italian manufacturer Arneg and fitted with vertical glass doors to reduce energy consumption.

Another key aspect of the store was to ensure appropriate and adequate retail lighting was fitted – this can really bring a store to life. LED lighting was installed inside the refrigeration cabinets and under shelving to heighten visual appeal of the product whilst saving on energy.

Nisa – Saltburn

This derelict store in Saltburn, North Yorkshire has been transformed into a brand new Nisa Local Convenience Store. The store, formerly a car showroom, will be run by North East Convenience and is set to create up to 15 jobs in the local area.

The main focus of the project was energy efficiency, sustainability and visual appeal to complement the local demographics and heritage of Saltburn a tourist area. Our team commenced construction work in December and had all works completed within the two week time frame.

Tasked with implementing the new Nisa Local store from design to delivery, the shopfitting team, led by Steve Barber, set about producing a new ceiling, shopfront, flooring, stud walls to entire stair section, roof pillars and roof spraying, two centrally locked auto doors and the bricking up of the side window to create visual appeal.

The next task was to deliver sustainability. The engineering team installed a Franchill split pack for noise reduction and energy efficiency which involved a split pack compressor room, split pack fans on the roof away from site of the local neighbourhood and an outside split pack fan location. All refrigeration and air conditioning equipment installed into the new Nisa Local store was ECA approved, using the most advanced energy efficient technologies on the market.

Nisa – Ely

The Patel family appointed us as their shopfitting contractors to transform this former Vauxhall garage, which has stood empty since it was closed by car firm Marshall in 2012, into a new to industry Nisa Local.

Being situated on a busy high street close by to Cambridge Cathedral in a heritage area, this could not have been your everyday convenience store. Using an artisan and wood theme we were able to enhance the character of the store. A state-of the-art Daikin CVP system was used to run all of the refrigeration cabinets in the store; using heat reclamation this will provide the entire store with free heating in the winter months and free cooling in the summer months.

This new store is sure to be a roaring success. Benefitting from a huge car park to the rear, shoppers can stop by for a top-up with ease. With a large emphasis on local and fair-trade produce the offering is vast to tempt its customers with.

The end result was a modern, vibrant store, improving the aesthetics along with maximising store space enabling the customer to shop with ease. Being Nisa’s preferred shopfitting contractor we were able to meet and exceed Nisa’s store of the future II specification.

“In October I decided to re-fit my Nisa store to Nisa’s ‘Store of the future II’ specification. I had many companies come to survey the store and give me a proposal for works.
I decided to go with ‘The Jordon group’ a Nisa recommended company who was represented by retail design consultant Matt Sullivan. I was impressed with every aspect of the re-fit and found the staff at Jordons a pleasure to work with.

I was particularly impressed with the professional and no hassle ‘can do’ attitude of the team from Steve Barber the foreman and his team. The engineers and installers were very friendly and eager to please me.

I was also very happy with the Arneg cabinets in RAL7024 including the IMZ25 shelving which is very strong and easy to manoeuvre.

Even after the re-fit the after service and support is exceptional, I would recommend Jordons if you are thinking of having a re-fit and wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Nisa – Blyth

This new Nisa Local Convenience store has had a complete overhaul to make it what it is today. Formerly “the Joiners Arms” pub, it has been lovingly transformed into a modern, fresh, local convenience store to provide the locals in Blyth with an easy alternative to supermarket shopping.

The refrigeration and air conditioning equipment used is the result of the most advanced energy saving technologies such as the Arneg Osaka and Panama, Daikin CVP and LED Lighting, all of which will reduce energy consumption by up to 40%.

Londis – Southall

When long standing Londis retailers of 30 years, Raj Chandegra and Sam Sandhu, wanted to extend their existing store, they approached Retail Design Consultant Mike Perry of the Jordon Group. Over the years Mike has forged a strong relationship with Raj and Sam, having project managed their last Londis refit on their existing store.

After five years of success with their current store the duo knew they could grow the business and branch out so acquired the two units next door.

Mike and the Jordon Team worked solidly for the weeks following in order to make Raj and Sam’s vision a reality – knocking the two empty units through to make one large retail store and completely fitting out the new site. The team installed a new floor, ceiling, led lighting, shelving, joinery, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and had the new store open within just two weeks.

Londis – Cricklade

This Londis store in Wiltshire was fully re-fitted in house by our highly skilled shopfitting division and refrigeration engineering team. The project was completed within time and budget to the highest quality standards.

Owner Hema Brar commented,
“There was a lot of emotion involved in the re-fit due to the fact we had to close for two weeks so we were naturally quite nervous about the end result but the project manager Mike Perry was amazing. He went above and beyond his duty, he put our minds at ease with regards to closure times and costs and everything ran exactly to budget and time schedule as Mike had planned.

The end result is absolutely fantastic and the feedback from family and customers has been phenomenal, the transformation from before and after is astounding. The refit was done over two years ago now and it still looks new because the quality is superb.

The after-sales service has also been great. This year we had a hot summer and we experienced a few issues with the equipment but Jordon’s were quick to respond and resolve the issues. Mike has also been there for us when we had questions; nothing has been too much trouble.

Since the refit footfall and sales have increased by roughly around 25% and we’ve also saved on our energy consumption; we have great kudos in the community for us being a responsible retailer.
We would unequivocally recommend Jordon’s, they are exceptional at what they do.”
