As part of the £450 million regeneration of Oldham town centre, the new market at The Spindles has created a modern destination for independent retailers, food businesses and local traders.
Among them is Strawberry Garden, a well established fresh produce retailer serving the local community with quality fruit, vegetables and everyday essentials.
The Jordon Group, part of Bellrock Group, delivered a complete fresh food retail fit out for the new stall. Combining fit out, refrigeration and retail display solutions, the project created a bright and engaging environment designed to showcase fresh produce, support efficient day to day operations and enhance the customer experience.
The Challenge
Fresh food retail environments rely on more than just product quality.
Presentation, visibility and customer flow all play a critical role in creating an engaging shopping experience and encouraging repeat visits.
For Strawberry Garden, the challenge was to create a retail environment that would stand out within a busy market hall while supporting the operational demands of fresh produce retailing.
Products needed to remain fresh throughout the trading day. Displays had to encourage browsing and impulse purchases. At the same time, the layout needed to support efficient replenishment and day to day operations behind the scenes.
Most importantly, the new stall had to make a strong visual impact while reflecting the quality of the business and its offer.

The Solution
The design centred around creating a highly visible and inviting fresh produce destination within Oldham Market.
A central produce display forms the focal point of the stall, showcasing colourful fruit and vegetables in a way that immediately captures attention and reinforces product quality.
Around the perimeter, refrigerated displays provide generous capacity for chilled produce while helping maintain freshness throughout the trading day. This combination of ambient and refrigerated merchandising creates a balanced and practical retail environment.
Integrated lighting was carefully positioned to enhance product presentation and create a bright, welcoming atmosphere. Clear sightlines and wide walkways allow customers to browse comfortably while ensuring products remain visible from multiple approaches within the market hall.
The result is a fresh food retail fit out that combines visual impact with practical functionality, supporting both the customer experience and day to day operations.
